This is the category where I plonk open letters (duh) .. i.e. letters I would write and post, or email rather, but instead I just put them in here, for whatever particular reason.
The X in "Dear X", whoever it happens to be, may or may not be aware of my letter -- I simply and probably will never know although I will usually make an attempt to inform him or her.
The most likely reason for writing my letter will be some idea that I have that I think the addressed recipient ought to know about and that idea in question will of course vary from letter to letter. But it won't be of such a personal nature that making it open would be considered bad judgement or bad taste or offensive even. Although I have to add that if, for example, I write to some professional christian or other and take them to task about their evil hate talk then of course that will be offensive but, and this is an important but, the person concerned needs to be told and needs to be told in a public, open, letter because hate stirring is one of the most evil activities that anyone could possibly indulge in and they need, always, to be told this in no uncertain terms.
Offensiveness and similar reactions pale into insignificance in the light of what such people are busy doing. Having said that, I tend towards any offensiveness being directed at SYSTEMS -- eg christianity as a malignant system, rather than a particular individual, some professional christian or other in this example, so it is not very likely that I will make a personal attack of that nature directed at, say, some evangelist or funlessdementalist or the like who just happens to be a big name; I may do but there again I most likely will not.
In any case, my preference is to focus on the creative and the positive rather than the destructive and the negative and that is what you will usually find here; it will mostly be people I greatly respect and even admire that I include as opposed to focussing on people I have neither admiration nor respect for.
