The first piece of software that I would like to give you is a backup program, one that I use myself and I wrote it because after trying other similar programs I thought I could do better, and I did.
One particular thing made me do it. It was when I ran a backup program and it started off by erasing the hard disc that I wanted to back up to and which in fact already had backup data on it. It is hardly rocket science to realize that you just don't 'clean' someone's hard disc and not even make it clear to the user that that is just exactly what your program is now doing!
So I thought, no, nope, and maybe 'No!, no, no' but not necessarily in that order and possibly more times, but you get the picture, I just lost total confidence in that backup program.
Let's be clear. Backing up is hard to do. No, I've got that wrong, "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" but that's a teenager's story and song from many years ago and nothing whatsoever to do with this note on backing up software. Backing up is NOT hard to do. It's dead easy. You don't need a program!
So why write it and offer it to you then?
Because backing up is so time-consuming, tedious and with Windows Explorer it is just a real pain, totally irritating and frustrating. Try it. See for yourself the snags that stupidly crop up.
Anyway, Bax It! is the name of my program and it's got Help files and so it's a good program for every day users of Windows PCs who just want to do basic jobs without all the idiotic button clicking and worse.
I wrote the above just about a year ago and since then I have spent many hours improving Bax It! It was a good program then. I have made it even better now. One thing that you need to know before you can use it is that you must have a second hard drive to use as your backup drive and it must have enough spare space on it to store all the data that's on your main drive - the easiest way to deal with that question is to buy another drive that is at least as big as your main drive.
