The idea of hostile aliens

by Paul E. Coughlin on 30 November 2009

I tried to deal with this important issue in my (now deleted) article "Steven Greer Interview" but I failed, in my own estimation, to deal with the question adequately and so I removed the article content and so now I want to come at this question from a more objective viewpoint. It is written in the knowledge that there are two distinct viewpoints and attitudes among intelligent people regarding the aliens which boil down to 'we need to be on our guard in case some aliens that might be hostile suddenly try something nasty against us like an invasion', and those, like myself, who believe that is a fundamental mistake and equate that view with something we have already solidly fixed in our somewhat horrifying history especially the history of religion and more especially the history of christianity.

Down through the centuries christians have managed to inviegle or engineer a fear based belief into probably the vast majority of the populace of each country concerned and I am thinking now especially of the eras, usually a century or several centuries in a row, in which a particular identifiable hatred has come to the fore.

Not in any particular order, we have, the "witches", the "sinisters" (this word is latin for 'left handed', so: the "left handed"), the "heretics" such as the cathars in the south of France who refused to denounce reincarnation and paid a very high price for sticking to their principles, and even cats, cats, yes, would you believe cats were targetted for being literally agents of the devil. This past century and more and currently still, at least among many of the religious, gays are still feared, hated and targetted. You get the basic drift or, if you don't yet then this is it: There are people with a mentality, outlook and belief who will readily come up with a twisted justification with the intention of attacking and destroying some innocent type of person who they know will not retalitate. Each of the examples I gave happened because these people get the upper hand; they manage to dominate the minds of those around them and infect them with the same diseased thinking. It isn't sufficient to blame this on "humans are fragile" and "it's just ignorance" (I always note the use of the word "just" when I hear this one). If we are ever to get to grips with this problem and banish it then it has to be understood, especially the cause has to be understood.

If you go back over these historical realities and ask what was going on, why, and how it all ended, you will find that the hate-generating people, mostly but not exclusively being of a religious nature, engineer a "monster" into being from the darknest recesses of their own diseased imaginations with only the very flimsiest of reasons for it AND in response we never rise to the challenge but fall for it every time, still.

Each one of these terrible ages of terror only came to an end after a good deal, an extremely bad deal really, of victimisation and utter nightmarish horrors.

Do I need to add that the target, in hindsight with all our present day wisdom, cannot with any glimmer of real knowledge have ever been deemed to have merited the label of evil at all.

Each era of hate did not end because the people came to their senses, far from it. It did not end with the 'haters' seeing the error of their ways, far from it (hey, check it out, can you find any trace of conscience and remorse ever being being exhibited by these people? It doesn't happen). The organisations, christian religions mostly or always, that started each hate-age did not have and are never likely to have the insight or wisdom or simple moral ability to come clean and make amends; it just doesn't happen; they just don't get it, ever, period. Their's is not the nice cuddly system they would have us all believe, far from it and doesn't the evidence tell us that clearly? They may spout about morality but show no sign of knowing - or caring - what it means.

What does seem to happen is that after a long period of frenzied insanity the populace tires, it seems, and from then on it can no longer be roused by the religious hate stirrers any more. As a consequence the religious haters realize they have worn the idea out and so a period of quiesence transpires before these same people or rather, same types of people, imagine a new target and begin their engineering of hatred all over again.

Of course it is not just the religious zealots that behave like this BUT they are the only ones who do it with God as the excuse and their followers are clearly NOT able or willing to SEE THE LIGHT. And one just has to make that stark observation and ask oneself exactly what is the good that these systems do for us? Personally I can see only that they foster a kind of cancer of the emotions and a neurosis or, even worse, a psychopathy. (A psychopath being someone that has lost all conscience and acts accordingly). But while I am sure that is the case, just from the historical and present day evidence, the greater population still nurtures and throws money at them so if that is what we all want, collectively, then that result is all that we deserve, surely?

If you think this is too harsh and not at all how religious people think and behave, that they don't really think up and engineer terrible atrocities then try looking at the subject more objectively and especially have a rethink about the ubiquitous basic automatic assumption that there is something good and nothing evil or very bad or very dangerous about the religious mindset. In fact this part of our history alone shows that there IS good reason for believing that the two things, the religious type of person and this evil mindset are one and the same thing albeit with lots of disguise and pretence built in. Observe too that hand in hand with these religious leaders go the religious followers who don't offer up much if anything at all by way of a squeek of resistance to the leaders hate-mongering, so just why is that, why do these two always seem to go together if the religions really are hamless systems? Weak mindedness? Gullibility? Stupidity? Inability to add two and two? Tendency to feed our darkest fears (instead of wrenching them into the 'light of day')? I could go on.

Regardless of the answer, and it is well worth repeating, we the more wider populace can be said, I think, to deserve this because we fall for it and do not guard against it despite the fact it is hardly rocket science and if you can stomach another little digression, did you know that rocket science is not as difficult as the saying suggests as there are no moving parts involved. And, it is my belief, that there have always been some, but it is always a very few, key thinkers, more sensible people, who can stifle such seeds before or as they germinate and offer a far safer and more balanced outlook for the people; it is just that the people always fall for the trouble-making leaders instead of listening to simple sense spoken by these quieter individuals. Sadly: noise wins over, always; presentation is more powerful than content, sadly.

So now, when we come back to the idea that we need to be on our guard in case some of the aliens are hostile it smacks to me of exactly this same basic foundational flaw that the religious hate mongerers start off with; a niggly fear at the back of our minds being stirred into a much bigger niggle.

It is basically an appeal to our lowest, most primitive, fear based "thinking" but it is not so much thinking at all but more a kind of automatic or primal feeling of being afraid of something unknown.

My observations of people at a basic level show there are two kinds of people, those who are more inclined or easily inclined to fear the unknown - which is what this problem is all about really - and those who recognize that fearing the unknown is a mistake and is the beginning of the creation of a new monster.

I do not believe there is any sign that any of the aliens are hostile. This is not the same as saying they are going to be friendly though. We should not falsely interpret their behaviour. We should not entertain and feed our natural and primitive fears. We should try to be unafraid of them. We should believe there is nothing to fear from them. Why? Because our history shows what nastiness we do when we don't follow these kinds of rules for ourselves. Because even if we are wrong, this is a better error to make than if we don't follow these rules. Because fear has a way of turning itself into a monster and us into monsters too. And, so what, what if we are wrong and the aliens are hostile what then would we gain by this knowledge? We can do nothing against them. We would be their targets to do with exactly as they want if that were the case and what would our fear of them gain for us then? Either way it's an unevolved stance to start of with any kind of fear based idea and we need to adopt that tiny piece of valuable information and start from there or be the victims of our own stupidity.

One reason that the aliens cannot live on earth openly with us is probably that we would fear and therefore target them and attack them. In fact the mere knowledge of their existence would cause us to 'offload' our responsibilies to them, looking upon them as our saviours while at the same time others would try to wipe them out; in our present state of conscious awareness (as a collective) we are just not up to the task at all. This means they cannot come and mix with us. They do not have to conceal themselves however, they could turn off their cloaking and let us see their ships so why do they stay concealed mostly? It's obvious or should be, and is simply because they have consideration for the effect it would have on us. We are allowed to believe that we have total ownership or "our" planet, total control and that there are no aliens simply out of consideration for the effect it would have on us if it were otherwise. Isn't that obvious? Do you really think hostile aliens would bother to be so considerate? If they were hostile then they wouldn't bother concealing themselves and after abducting us they might well say "Going home now? Fine, call a taxi, get yourself home" and as for the mutilations, we'd see them every day on the high street up and down the country. Consideration doesn't match with hostility; disregard and contempt do and we do not see disregard or contempt, I suggest. Human mutilation seems to be rare and associated with dubious military behaviour - I have never heard of a case that suggests otherwise.

It should be obvious that there was never any real justification for targetting cats, heretics, witches, gays and left handed people but we carry on after the frenzy as if that is not something for us all to be totally ashamed of as a society. I think that shame should also be a reason not to fall into the same trap as our forefathers did, not to start a spark of fear based on ignorance and stirred into action by people-types who always seem to be magnetically attracted into the religions and once there they foster the hate-generation and encounter little or no resistance. This cannot be thought of as advanced in any way; it is retrograde, it debased humans and humanity.

I call upon people who hold the "hostile alien" idea to give solid reasoning that would stand up to scrutiny or, otherwise, to very seriously reflect on what you are really tryiing to do and what your real motivation is. I will add here that of those I have heard posit the hostile alien idea, I have not heard good reasoning for it.

If they carry on, refusing to see sense, then this becomes an invitation to what I think of as the militaristic psychopath to seize upon this 'handle' - this opportunity to 'grip' the people. A recent example is the fear and hatred of gays this past century or more in the western world; it is fairly clear that AIDS was created and released by the military and without that fundamental fear and hatred one has to wonder if they would have gone ahead with the project. I hasten to add however, how, for all their intelligence and money, they can and do get it wrong and that was the case with AIDS because although it resulted in the beginning with even more hatred and fear of gays, after some years it actually helped people, society, to grow up and realize that their hate and fear of gays was simply ignorance for the most part and has no sound basis at all. Note that this maturity has been far slower to have any effect upon the religious people; so much for their superior wisdom as they would assert it and so much for their freedom from evil mindedness as, again, they would assert it.

It is just a great pity that more generally we do not seem to 'grow up' and realize how easily we can be duped and 'managed' as a result of our own susceptibility to fall into a primal fear mode of "thinking".

It should be obvious that there is nothing evil about left handed people and nothing evil about "witches" but we carry on, failing to observe the basic tendency to have open arms to those who stir up fear and hatred as if they will protect us. Far from it, they create, in a certain manner or meaning, the very monsters that they 'paint' in our own imaginations and once created, like Pinochio, they can be brought to life. This is more than metaphor though it is not quite literal; it is true that a monster comes to life, isn't it? What would you call the result? Isn't it just like a monster has come to life except that the monster is US?

Must we still create monsters in our own imaginations merely because we know we face something great that we have very little knowledge about. The aliens, just like the witches etc, might wish to communicate with us but if our fears stand in the way (because we let them) then how can they? No one can jusifiy his or her existence if a decision has been made already that something about you is literally devilish or evil. So it has to be that we are constantly on our guard against being taken advantage of due to our own ignorance and our basic tendency towards primitive fear.

After all, a huge element in the great success of the tricks 9/11 and 7/7 is due to the fear each induced (so-called 'shock and awe') which makes it almost impossible for those who felt that fear to think about the evidence which blatantly tells us they were tricks. So, again, we invite the militaristic psychopath, and I include the religious hate stirrer in that term, to dominate our minds. If we understood that then we would laugh at them and disrespect their dangerous ideas as soon as they make emotional pleas to fear instead of listening to them in a kind of thoughtless mode.

Recently (November 2009) I watched a TV program (in the UK), a documentary about a village in Nigeria and the "witch children" there who were being tortured and killed or banished. This is how one UK newspaper describes it (try Googling for more):

"Children are targets of Nigerian witch hunt. Evangelical pastors are helping to create a terrible new campaign of violence against young Nigerians. Children and babies branded as evil are being abused, abandoned and even murdered while the preachers make money out of the fear of their parents and their communities"

A "bishop" with all the recognizable zeal we see in christian evangelist missionaries boasted how he had killed 110 children, "winches" as he called them unable to even pronounce the word properly (and yet being the only person able to 100% identify them - a god-given talent, apparently!). Christian missionaries created this mental mess, this cultural cancer, this horror, this nightmare, having planted the seeds of fear and hate decades ago. Note how the organisations responsible for these projects do not accept any responsibility for the outcome we now witness - which is a characteristic of psychopathic behaviour. My point though is not to vilify christianity although I believe that is a worthy occupation, but to use it to show how very very easily we humans become 'putty' in the hands of this type of leader. No one, it seems to me, was forced to follow this 'bishop' leader, and, those who still do could easily listen instead to an alternative leader. We, in the more advanced world may well think we are superior in wisdom and would never fall for this kind of trick, that we are not so gullible, but our very own fear-hate-'bishops' are just more cleverly disguised nowadays so detecting them requires a little focussed effort if we are really not to succumb to their machinations.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that we, in the more 'advanced' countries, are better than that; we have all fallen for exactly this same nasty mind and cancer of the emotion stuff. Here in the UK it was only in the 1950's that the anti witch laws were finally abolished. If you believe you are not prone to management by leaders with twisted minds and agendas then have a little re-think about it; we are just as gullible and have proven it and are still proving it today - what do you think the 'shock and awe' of 9/11 (and again, with 7/7) was meant to do with your mind and your emotions if it wasn't to manipulate you and get you to behave like putty in the hands of these leaders. The only difference is we don't have any idea who our leaders are - they certainly are not the public government we all get to see. So we are not better at all but just as likely to fall into this trap of fearing some unknown evil. And, I am suggestiing here, that we are doing that when we believe that the aliens are to be feared because we think they may be hostile; we need to draw a clear distinction between the behaviours they exercise that we are aware of and of a solely human view of what that means; firstly we are probably just wrong as usual (thanks to the motivation of fear) and secondly we are wrong because our view as humans is extremely blinkered and devoid of Greater Consciousness - we are like spoilt and nasty kids in the care of compassionate and understanding adults who just happen to be trying to run a hospital (or something like one).

There have been many films made wherein the content has been twisted away from the original true story to include fear-generating content. One that comes to mind especially for this topic, is "Fire in the sky" the story of Travis Walton. Travis Walton himself, in his own words, does not describe the more frightening parts of the film at all; they were added to 'spice it up' using fear, groundless fear.

I believe there is no substance to the idea that any of the aliens are hostile and in the absence of solid evidence to the contrary it is wrong to incite suspicion of them. Abductions and mutilations need to be considered in the light of other evidence to try and understand what is really going on - it is not wanton, not done out of disregard for our welfare. IF there is real evidence then let those who say we should think of them as possibly hostile present all the best evidence they have - then let us consider this with fair minds and fearless emotions (or 'hearts'). The evidence that we do have suggests that we should try to curb our natural fear of them because unfounded fear or suspicion only serves to work against us. We should always try to master our fears and never feed them. I personally feel safer knowing there are aliens around than I do knowing there are christians around - or, remember: there is no real fun in fundamentalism but there is obviously something 'mental' in it.

Here is another thought that might help you to agree with my basic idea. Look at the kingdom of nature here on earth and consider for a moment how dangerous it can be - and is. And yet how much of this kingdom is intent upon a hostile agenda against humanity. Moreover, how much would such an agenda - if it were really to exist - would be 100% fully justified based on humans behaviour against nature? How many of the animals target and attack humans. How many of the insects do? I do not think this is altogether a good analogy but it would be easy to blame almost any animal you can think of (hey cats have already undergone this anyway) and for us to fear that animal. But on the whole it is only animals that have been badly treated by humans that tend to attack humans and although there are other exceptions the general rule is that we are foolish if we live with any fear of insects or animals especially if we were to encompass a belief that "they are out to get us" - wouldn't you regard such a person as insane ?

I hope this article helps to moderate what I have recently noticed taking place among intelligent well meaning people regarding the aliens. To me, even the word 'alien' is not right (although I use it readily, I wish we could find a better word); they are not really aliens and neither, I would say, are they 'visitors' either. They, not us, it seems to me, have more right to do what they do than we generally have to do what we do so very much without regard to other life and, if they chose to wipe us out or invade us then my feeling is that we would deserve it for behaving so badly and destructively. But I don't see any indicator suggestive of that evenuality so why entertain such an idea, I see no reason to and I see many a reason not to and I hope I have made some of the reasoning clearer now.
